on Digital Signal Processing

The venues and dates of the forthcoming events (DSP 2011 and DSP 2013) are to be considered by the Steering Committee in the first quarter of 2010. Colleagues, who are interested in undertaking the organisation of one of these events, are kindly asked to submit the corresponding form (DSP2011-Conference-Information-Form.txt or DSP2013-Conference-Information-Form.txt)

The 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP 2009), the most longstanding conference in the area of DSP, was held 5-7 July 2009 on the Aegean island of Santorini, Greece. DSP 2009 belongs to a series of events which had its genesis in London in 1968 and continued to Florence, Nicosia, Lemessos, Santorini, and Cardiff.

DSP2009 drew a large number of excellent submissions, from 48 countries around the world. The reviewers selected 232 contributions as appropriate to the subject and these have been arranged in lecture or poster sessions (50 papers were presented in 10 special sessions, 117 papers in 23 oral sessions and 65 papers in 8 poster sessions). Accepted papers are published in IEEE Xplore. The technical program was highlighted by plenary lectures of 4 distinguished scientists.

I wish to thank all those who participated in DSP2009. I would like also to thank all those who made this task possible: the Steering Committee, the Technical Program Chairs, the Technical Program Committee, the Reviewers, the Session Organizers, the Session Chairs, the Plenary Speakers and all the Authors.

I would like to acknowledge the support of the HOU, the IEEE Greece Section, the IEEE SP & CAS Societies, the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development and all our sponsors and exhibitors.

The technical co-sponsorship of IEEE, IET and EURASIP is gratefully acknowledged.

I sincerely hope that this Conference will keep on leading the way to high quality Digital Signal Processing research worldwide.

Professor A. N. Skodras
General Chair DSP2009
